YAZMIN LACEY (UK)

About This Project

Yazmin Lacey from Nottingham (UK) sings with the directness and emotional clarity of classic soul. Her debut EP Black Moon, combines Yazmin’s incisive songwriting with the vitality of jazz. Her sound resonates with lovers of soulful and honest music. ‘Brilliant singer/songwriter and great new name for the UK’ according to Gilles Peterson – July 2017. Black Moon EP was recorded in a makeshift living room studio and selected by Gilles Peterson to be one of BBC Radio 6 Records of The Year. It was produced by Yazmin and her bandmembers, all talented multi-instrumentalists whose solo projects (Three Body Trio and Broadstrokes) are finding their own success. After numerous high profile collaborations (Warren Xlnce, Congi) and support slots (Daudi Matsiko, Fatima, Low Leaf), Black Moon is Yazmin’s first physical release and Mondriaan Jazz will be Yazmin’s first concert in The Netherlands. MJAZZ is at the frontlines of the next big thing in UK jazz!
