MJAZZ is proud to welcome back Ashley Kahn to host two panel talks at Koorenhuis. Ashley Kahn is a jazz historian, author and professor at the New York University NYU. His books include the famous John Coltrane biography ‘A Love Supreme: The Story of John Coltrane’s Signature Album’, ‘Kind of Blue: The Making of the Miles Davis Masterpiece’ and more. Kahn’s writing has been awarded with two Grammy nominations, three ASCAP/Deems Taylor Awards and two distinctions from the Jazz Journalists Association. Kahn also publishes for Rolling Stone Magazine, MOJO Magazine and NPR. In the past Kahn helped to produce countless great concerts and has worked closely with Paul Simon, Peter Gabriel, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and others. He continues to work closely with the Coltrane family and the Miles Davis family in various ways. One of the talks will be about the Chicago jazz scene, with Jeff Parker and Makaya McCraven; the second panel discussion will be Henk Koolen, MJAZZ festival director, interviewing Kahn.
