Panel talks with Nate Chinen

The ‘talk’ is a recurring tradition at Mondriaan Jazz. This year Nate Chinen will host the two panel talks during the festival. Chinen is a journalist who wrote about contemporary jazz in the New York Times for many years. Last year he published his book Playing Changes, which was critically acclaimed as a true jazz canon. In the book he focuses on the many musical movements that are present today including its artists such as Kamasi Washington, Brad Mehldau, Robert Glasper, Makaya McCraven and others. Chinen is more than acquainted with the state of music and current developments and we are honoured to welcome him at Mondriaan Jazz Festival 2019.

Panel 1: Jazz & Technology
A tech-infused and interactive concert by Tin Men & The Telephone, hosted by Nate Chinen.

Panel 2: Contemporary and Modern Latin America
A panel discussion with Miguel Zenón, Camila Meza and Fabian Almazan.

Location: Koorenhuis Lounge
* All conversations will be held in English
