Trumpet player and composer Ambrose Akinmusire is one of the striking rising stars of a new generation of artists who are able to reach both the old and the young music loving generation. The 34-year-old American presents music full of unpredictable jazz elements and familiar pop influences. Akinmusire, who won the Paul Acket Award at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2014, learned to play from greats as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Terence Blanchard and has worked with, among others, Kendrick Lamar, Kamasi Washington and Lalah Hathaway. Meanwhile Ambrose released three albums on the famous Blue Note label. Akinmusire is a post-modern virtuoso who, with his quartet, creates daring jazz in an original and dynamic way.
